Is Mother Nature Confused?

We aren't going to be picky, that's for sure...  Winter in April - this year we'll take it!  Last week we received about 10-12 inches and some temps in the single digits.  Last night we had about 2-3" and are slated to get about 3-6" more tonight.  The timing was perfect for those who have their peas in the ground and will also be beneficial to those who still have some to plant.  As soon as we get some more seasonal temperatures, many of the fields should begin emerging.  We have growers with peas in many different growing situations this year and I hope that all of our bean growers can get to see some of the fields in their area as the growing season progresses.  All of us have something to learn when it comes to this new crop and we should be able to analyze dry-land, irrigated, and limited irrigation fields with different varieties/planting times/tillage systems etc...  If you would like to know where some fields are in your area, please contact myself or Dave Dietrich and we will put you in touch with some growers near you.  We will also schedule several field tours to look at crop progress & harvest.
